Started learning python, know some bash, feels vaguely familiar, but the syntax is simpler-ish (?) and makes me wanna throw out my german keyboard cause I can’t deal with all the parentheses, trying to follow a really simple course and I just keep looking down and seeing them on 8 & 9, then another brain cell dies.
Also commas, commas everywhere, so i had to set the numpad dot to comma (nerd alert, linux command below):
setxkbmap us -option kpdl:comma
As well, I have now into learning Godot, and am super excited just to make a dumb bit of pixel sketching kinda jump, next step = gamepad, just one button input working will be amazing.
Past week has been pretty much just one drawing, some bits of changes on other works but mostly i just did this:
I used to draw just in pencil, I’m sure that’s kinda the norm, HB lead pencil in a classroom = drawing to escape boredom. But then I got into ink and it became a kinda default of work, a stupid expectation that everything will wind up dominated by this medium and balanced against it. But just working in pencil is so easy, I forget what a pain in the ass pen and ink is cause I have internalized its terrible pace.
when it was a work in progress
scan away scan away scan away
the transfer from the physical to the digital plane still blows my idiot mind
Besides this, not much.
Supposedly I am taking part in an open studio day, but really? I don’t foresee letting people come in to my tiny drawing box and breathe their covidian breathings all down on the place. Usually someone comes in and just asks if it’s George Washington, snickers and that wraps up the human interaction portion of the day in which I play my role as subject in a human zoo.
Perhaps it could be possible to really make a weekly update if I did things differently.
Stop playing video games?
Make updates about old stuff since I can’t really churn out content at such rates.
Yeah, why not start regurgitating the old stuff, I think with notes and critiques, like hey youngin’ you done fucked up here.
Right now working a bit on the Trapezoid Series Page. Will add some more work in progress shots, details and such, also somewhere I had better photos of Trap III.
Stop starting new works before finishing old ones?
New work (see featured image above), is part of this attempt to turn my desk into a megascroll and just run paper thru until its a decent 2m of material, than slice and start new. That said, I did not progress at all on the other big drawing of 2020 at all this week, cause it is lame.
There have been some delays… (distractions as well if I am being honest here.)
The whole thing, which is currently in a deep state of srugical repair. Just rip this shit up.
Primary patient, I mean if this bit is fucked then what the hell else can even work.
Where to start with how shitty these turned out…
Again same, but also dude on far right sucks, just like the right in reality, woop.
This bit holds up still, BUT this photo does not, there is scans elsewhere here and its not like anyones looking that closely besides me right?
A bit of “dear lord what the fuck am I doing with my time on this here earth” has been slowing this drawing down, and that is only fair since this drawing induced the sensation (give and you shall receive). This current WIP is merely off to a lame ‘start’ (several months in) lets say, the anatomy, the composition, I mean I am a fan of repetition but I have to say this needs a spark, and I have been here before, usually there is two options draw a hole into it or give it some room to breathe. So onto the back burner with it for the foreseeable future, no need for another wasted period of stressed efforts, I can wait… (so patient… fucking peice of shit, stupid drawing)
For now, studies and let some other drawings get moving. The one below is one I started when my eyes were littered with the noise of cataracts and I couldn’t tell if the paper was yellow or why anything was so blurry. So, now with some time distanced I can use it as a testing pad, perhaps I can make it work.
Back at this one…
Done during cataract days, if I can fix this fucker I can fix anything.
How it was last week vs. now. Next week, probably just a hole in the paper.
Nothing beats listening to Behind the Bastards talking on about people drinking bleach / prescribing bleach as a cure all for fucking idiots, whilst sketching out some anatomy and other nonsensical shit.
sketch apr may 2020 ish
you got the FLU
sketch apr may 2020 ish
sketch apr may 2020 ish
always more anatomy plz
cant draw ears
And some more photos of alterations underway in the studio…
small work, mehhh
got something here, not sure what
notes on plans to make notes
its gone to hell
And seeing as one giant drawing is never enough, I ‘modified’ my desk in order to turn it into something akin to a giant calculator, or scroll, so I can roll a huge piece of paper out indefinitely and just cut it every couple of meters and say, ‘look, a drawing has been finished’.
Spaghetti? Comics again… underway… hopefully.
If ‘Fallout 76’ and ‘Slay the Spire’ are held at bay, I should manage to continue the regular updates, if anyone reads this no matter, sense of direction (the micro accomplishment machine) is worth it alone.
I could never get this to scan in right, some images weren’t the same size, and I ran thru every conceivable option I thought, but I seem to have forced Photoshop into finally getting this, albeit with a bit of a fish eye lens somehow. Still gotta fix that… The pic above is cropped to avoid that annoyance, but later next week I will fix this all up and combo it into the Untitled 2019 page.
