Started learning python, know some bash, feels vaguely familiar, but the syntax is simpler-ish (?) and makes me wanna throw out my german keyboard cause I can’t deal with all the parentheses, trying to follow a really simple course and I just keep looking down and seeing them on 8 & 9, then another brain cell dies.
Also commas, commas everywhere, so i had to set the numpad dot to comma (nerd alert, linux command below):
setxkbmap us -option kpdl:comma
As well, I have now into learning Godot, and am super excited just to make a dumb bit of pixel sketching kinda jump, next step = gamepad, just one button input working will be amazing.
I can’t say I did much this week, I am not sure where it went or when weeks begin and end, the axis is skewed as of late, mostly weighted in a direction that favors me, yet it seems to slide into places unplanned.
I’ll just post a couple bits therefore.
some sketching was done today, but honestly, why?
get the stupid out
more to come this week on this i do believe
learnin to paint
sun fried eyes
As well I guess most effort went back into what once held the glorious title of “Untitled 2020”. Which once again is another piece which starts up with my usual ‘Man walks into a bar’ setup and I hope to wind up at a new punchline, the man in question is emaciated and has a deal about civilization and plans for wheat, and probably books on the best use and case situations for cages. “Great Man of History” or something to that effect.
get some civility
this dude was surgically re-worked with my meat hands
*(Reading the above now, and the whole time I am hearing this type of insanely confident Dutch male accent, Dutch dudes are beyond cocky, hanging out by the Herengracht sipping beer and collars popped. )
Past week has been pretty much just one drawing, some bits of changes on other works but mostly i just did this:
I used to draw just in pencil, I’m sure that’s kinda the norm, HB lead pencil in a classroom = drawing to escape boredom. But then I got into ink and it became a kinda default of work, a stupid expectation that everything will wind up dominated by this medium and balanced against it. But just working in pencil is so easy, I forget what a pain in the ass pen and ink is cause I have internalized its terrible pace.
when it was a work in progress
scan away scan away scan away
the transfer from the physical to the digital plane still blows my idiot mind
Besides this, not much.
Supposedly I am taking part in an open studio day, but really? I don’t foresee letting people come in to my tiny drawing box and breathe their covidian breathings all down on the place. Usually someone comes in and just asks if it’s George Washington, snickers and that wraps up the human interaction portion of the day in which I play my role as subject in a human zoo.
