I had hoped to draw more, but instead was consumed with scribbling down ideas for some manner of beat em up meets RPG meets platformer, ‘Super Double Zelda Dragon Ransom Bros. 2’ = BARF_CITY, and I cannot code for shit, but I hope some ‘charm’ will arise from this, can code be like ‘outsider art’, Henry Darger, but a game, that honestly would be a better game, just take his whole “The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion“, it’s all in the title, player characters, enemies, NPCs, settings, shit, I should have started with this.
$Timer.cooldown or was it $Timer.stunned.
All that said, this week I did manage a bit more hunching over paper and less hunching over keyboard, and hopefully some new balance shall occur, cause I think I get it now that this will not be done anytime soon, some dream of a balanced enemy vs player schematic can be found then built upon is probably nonsense.
Analogue Balancing Act
Still not done…
Barf City on the brain
If I had more time, sleep, hands
Nothing new to see
Proportions or lens angle?
Managed to make it in
Brush pen is super pen
Still. Something something, craft, analogue, traditional, plying ones trade, keeping the root system healthy.
Seen some real art
Do excuse the angle on it, there was a severe glare, but I think you can still just soak this majesty on up.
For now I fuck this up on the regular, it was once overburdened with potential and clean pencil work which could be adjusted with ease. Now it drifts toward absolute disaster, and I have to pretend it’s all some intentional improv act.
Perhaps it could be possible to really make a weekly update if I did things differently.
Stop playing video games?
Make updates about old stuff since I can’t really churn out content at such rates.
Yeah, why not start regurgitating the old stuff, I think with notes and critiques, like hey youngin’ you done fucked up here.
Right now working a bit on the Trapezoid Series Page. Will add some more work in progress shots, details and such, also somewhere I had better photos of Trap III.
Stop starting new works before finishing old ones?
New work (see featured image above), is part of this attempt to turn my desk into a megascroll and just run paper thru until its a decent 2m of material, than slice and start new. That said, I did not progress at all on the other big drawing of 2020 at all this week, cause it is lame.
Working on this new pic has entered that ugly phase, imbalanced, ugly. When it’s just pencil, everything is nice and at the same levels. Now, bits in ink, and mistakes get loud when they are in ink, back when they were just pencil, one would barely note them, now they are glaring. But I will upload anyways in order to document the mess. Oh and since it is the era, covid 19 something something and I am still a hermit with a masters degree in advanced social distancing.
They are locking Berlin down now, so hopefully I can still make it to the studio.
Finished the drawing above about 6 months ago, ripped up a scanner in order to get it scanned in somewhat, that still left some distortions in place, and needs a remake. The tough part was the top part of this, seemed like everything wanted to reject patching it together, figured out finally that there was a segment of it that for some reason was 150dpi, not 300, or 300 and not 600 depending on the folder, but somehow the original source was 50%. Should have noticed it sooner, and anyways, done now.
Second issue today fixed/found, WordPress loves to compress images, in order to make it stop you have to edit the themes functions.php file (in “Theme Editor” click on Theme Functions (function.php) on the right-hand side) and then add this at the end:
I could never get this to scan in right, some images weren’t the same size, and I ran thru every conceivable option I thought, but I seem to have forced Photoshop into finally getting this, albeit with a bit of a fish eye lens somehow. Still gotta fix that… The pic above is cropped to avoid that annoyance, but later next week I will fix this all up and combo it into the Untitled 2019 page.
Definite graphite loss, paper texture not so terrible.
When it’s shrunk, not so bad. Web suffecient.
I think overall, not terrible. I will play more with the calibration, if anyone online who might be reading this and actually knows better, please please email me, I know very (very) few will read this, and then yet fewer would also have such a scanner, the venn diagram is not looking good here, but hey why not ask any ways..
I have the ability to post from my phone, it’s probably not the best idea.
Also, let’s check this image shrinking.
Well this is what I’m starting at. Early early starts… Goal = done in September, or sooner, but not likely.
And in a couple of days I will have a new hand held scanner toy, which should mean a lot more mini updates, breaks that go on for too long under the excuse that I am documenting process or some such shit.
